I saw one of these ads on FB a few back and thought it was strange they showcased flashlights in foreground with a fully lit baseball field in the background and I keep seeing them and they all weird show a light…not being used. Pretty sure AI is being used quite a bit to make these images but just struck me as bizarre.

I get it, they wanna show how sexy their designs are (or aren’t) but yeah, i wanna see beans and practical applications. This is a fail. I’m gonna impulse buy a Convoy out of spite lol
Clearly edited in over an A”I” background, admittedly not horrible quality A”I” but the textures and the scenes generally not making real-world sense give it away.
If they showed the lights in actual use nobody would buy them, they’re carried entirely by brand image these days unfortunately.
To be fair a lot of really well liked light brands have absolutely horrendous AI slop marketing too. *cough*Wurkkos/Sofirn*cough*

Totally checks out, since in my experience Maglites are intended to sit in the kitchen “junk drawer” until needed, at which time the batteries are found to have leaked and destroyed the light, requiring purchasing another.

Maglites are cooler when you take an old beat up unit and upgrade the emitter battery bezel and end cap. I’m waiting for a drop in replacement upgrade with higher lumens an advanced user interface.

Back in the day, you didn’t buy one because you needed a giant flashlight, you bought one because it gave you an excuse to carry a metal bat around.
I bought a mag tac in 2013 and their new ones are still 320 lumens! The price did go down to $45 from $80 when I got it. It’s still overpriced though.

Are maglites any good? In the mid 2000s, we got issued them in the British Army and they were awful. The build quality was horrible and they would just break. We all bought Surefires.
I thought Maglite went bankrupt long ago. Did the Chinese buy them or something?
