I have this knife I bought some 4-5 years ago. It’s a river knife, which means it lives in my Buoyancy Aid, and is mainly for cutting ropes, thin branches, fishing lines…

I’ve tried to keep it maintained (cleaning after paddling, dried after, etc), but it still got rusty. I sanded away the rust before as best I could, but it rusted again, and faster. I also do some kayak surfing so the salty water got it as well. I could try and sand the rust away, but the mechanism to open and close is hard to operate now.

Anyone have any ideas on how to disassemble and reassemble to clean?

I have since swapped to a non-foldable river knife for ease of use and maintenance, but this one could still be useful to carry hiking
