Warning, Please MOD at your own risk.
I might have gotten some people exited in my last post, but I guess I miss out to mention some important details.
1) There might be a risk of short with the KR1AA driver because its inductor makes contact with the shelf of the FW1AA. I have mitigated this by isolating the component with kapton tape and leaving excess wire that acts as a cushion for the driver.
2) I had to flip the tube of the FW1AA around to achieve better contact with the driver. What I am trying to say is that I am tightening the tailcap side of the tube into the head and using then tightening the head side of the tube to the tailcap. Hope this makes sense.
Other than that, the light works fine with the KR1AA driver. I am able to go through all the lumen levels and FW1AA gets hot really fast when using Turbo.
I am really not worry about a failure and if this light ever fails on me I promise to make a post about it, but I am very optimistic that I won’t have any issues(knock on wood).
Dummy me end up scratching some phosphor off the corner of the LED when I was assembling the light so you will noticed the bright blue light in the pictures. I was mad at first but then I was not because I did not like the tint of HT70; it’s somewhat yellowish green. Pictures do not show how it looks to my eyes.
I am now looking at other LED options that I can throw into this moded FW1AA.
