the Buck 040 Onset was one of the first knives in my collection that I paid more than $100 for. It's such a well built knife. It's balanced well with a great handle to blade ratio. The flipper is so satisfying with great engagement from the frame lock when it's fully open. The Onset is also an extremely handsome knife. This one has been one of my goto knives when I want to have a "classy carry" folder that isn't a CRKT CEO style knife. The way the flat grind S45VN blade catches light flows on a continuous line from the handle is just a well thought out design. The contrasting G-10 side and the bright stainless steel side make the Onset look great from any angle. Its elegance is how simple and understated it looks, despite being a relatively large knife. It doesn't look out of place in a dressed up gathering or at the office. Even though most similar sized knives would.
