Alright another somewhat interesting knife from my collection. Made in Formosa and a dialect not too often seen. Where is formosa you might ask? Taiwan! The name Formosa was given by portugese colonialists meaning "beautiful island" on said island of taiwan is a group of rugged mountain tribal people called the paewan/paiwan. These tribals were detailed as "fearless formosian headhunters" their culture of weaponry is beautiful and well documented but slowly becoming lost to time. This piece is a genuine example of a ceremonial headhunters dagger crafted by the paiwan, enscribed in paiwanese and english stamped MADE IN FORMOSA. A dagger enscribed in a name becoming lost to time, by a people becoming lost to time, for a tradition becoming lost to time. Wicked sharp and incredibly sturdy despite its appearance. This knife was NOT USED to headhunt but was rather a ceremonial design carried by those who did. Love it and love having it in my collection of wacky knives.
