I received this beauty off the swap a while back and always wondered this. It came with side to side blade play, it has the pivot screw as tight as it can get, is this normal for this model?
I know of all of my knives i take note if there is centering and blade play, but know MW are known for butterfly knives, so I thought maybe this is just how their knives are supposed to feel, which is dumb of me, but still. It's an amazing piece, I just can be picky about it feeling solid and tight tolerances

I would contact MW! They’re very helpful. This is not normal.
The Sonora has a really high torque spec for the pivot. I would recommend reaching out to them and they should be able to help you out.
Yes, but there is a solution.
The knife runs on fluid bearings (washers with a thin film of oil between the surfaces), so it relies on having oil in the pivot to take up the slack. Add some oil to each side of the pivot and work the knife a few times.
