Got a mini freek carbon fiber after having one years ago and regretting selling it. I don't have a real collection per se just some beater moras in case I need them.
This is the only one I want to carry daily (armed security) and I intend to change it only slightly. Have a deep pocket clip from benchmade to put on it. Also I want to cut out some grip tape pieces to affix to the recessed portions of the grip as I remember it not being the grippiest when your hands aren't dry.
Gonna take it to my knife sharpener and see what he thinks about making it sharper. He usually doesn't put much stock in crazy sharpness and thinks most factory edges are good enough. He has the wire cut tester and a bunch of other tools to sharpen.
Happy for the deal at midway (200), I guess competition forced a step down in price. I didn't really want anything else on the market though, tried a lot of it, ain't for me. A slightly thicker grip is better I find – I have pretty long fingers so I was never comfortable with the super thin things like a bug out.
Also like the rock solid feel of real carbon fiber strips auto claved together. I think that's what this is, it feels crazy strong. I've seen other knives advertised as CF but it's clearly composite – meaning they take chunks of carbon fiber and glue it together. That's only as strong as any particulate glued together is ever gonna be. I bought a maratac watch made out of that once and it broke the very first day I had it, took it to a jeweler to change the strap and a lug sheared right off with little pressure.
So overall very happy, it's my birthday present to myself.
