The Benchmade Redoubt should arguably have replaced the Griptilian in Benchmade's lineup. Like a lot of Benchmades, it was(is) too expensive for the sum of its parts. The Redoubt is a very well built knife and a better value proposition when on sale. I managed to find both of my Griptilians for less than $100 OTD, though. The material choice is probably what turns people away. The blade is in CPM D2. While CPM D2 is not even playing the same sport as regular D2, Benchmade or Crucible would have done well to name it literally anything else. The blade on my Redoubt is a great size and shape that comes razor sharp. The handle looks like a broom handle and contains a massive amount of GFN. While not being the fanciest material choice, it feels great in the hand. It fits in the pocket really well for its size too. The Redoubt will always perform better than it should on paper. It's an underrated knife that didn't need to be underrated.
