Hey, I'm a volunteer firefighter and I'm getting tired of the crappy stick-on lights that the hall provides, jacket lights are relatively useless and handheld lights aren't much of an option. I'm looking at buying myself a side mount helmet light and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Streamlight Vantage, Vantage II, or Vantage 180

any other recommendations are appreciated, I just need to make sure any personal add on are NFPA certified, fire/heat and water resistant, yadda yadda

I'd ask in the firefighter subs, but most of those guys are a bunch of losers who look down on volunteers and only do the job for the money

Nitestick has less expensive options, half the price, similar construction. Warehouse is near me in Plano, TX

Helmet lights are nice, no need to spend the amount streamlight wants the other option suggested here is just as good. I will say they are really only so helpful either way. In full black out smoke conditions your not seeing much of anything either way. Just brighter smoke, so get used to doing it in the dark. Honestly that’s why the streamlight right angle is a warm low lumen it’s been tested and verified to give you some visibility. Helmet lights are OK for overhaul but who’s in a rush then anyway, and a tic is better at seeing heat than any flashlight will ever be. I have a right angle sofrin on my radio strap. adjustable brightness and flood style. Works great for the 70% ems that we end up doing anyway.
