I swapped a SF UE tailcap for a SF DS00, used with a Unity HotButton, on an Arisaka body/SF KE2-DF head Franken-Light setup. When I went to thread the DS00 on, it would only thread halfway. I removed it and this (first pic) came out of the body and allowed me to thread it all the way.
Everything works now and all O-rings appear to seat properly. I just can’t figure out where this threaded ring part came from now…? 🤷 Thanks for your help!

Sure looks like the buffer tube lock ring from an AR, but too small.
not sure, I dont have your type of light,
Maybe it fits around the tailswitch spring and screws down around the spring post..
maybe it came unscrewed
it looks like it is intended to limit how far back a battery can move during recoil
I edited this photo to add the arrow and label.. just guessing

Thats weird. That really looks like a switch retaining ring from an E-series tailcap.
For instance a scoutlight or a defender tailcap would have something very similar to this on the outside of the light holding the rubber boot in place but i’m pretty sure those are threaded differently.
I hope you figure it out. Good luck.
