Hey all.
1991 V6 3.0L, 2WD, AT, Standard Cab
Dealing with a turn key – no crank.
Truck sat for 8 years so I went through the basics.
-Replaced starter relay
-Replaced ignition switch
-Replaced Neutral Safety Switch (BSS)
-Truck will turn over with the screwdriver bypass at the starter relay so I know the starter works.
I decided to chase 12V from the ignition switch to see where the disconnect is. I found I have 12V down to the NSS harness when turning the key – so I went ahead and put a jumper paper clip in to bypass the switch to see if maybe my new one was bad. No crank still!
Leads me to believe the wire coming from the NSS back to the starter relay is bad. Should be a red wire with blue stripe.
Wanted to see if anyone has dealt with a similar issue and if there’s an easier path than getting into the main harness. Haven’t done a ton of harnessing but this is a project so I’m down for the task.
Thanks all!
