Hit a buck at about 55-60 this morning. Radiator was leaking and front end is wiped out. Brand new 2026 XLT. Has 800 miles on it.

Depends on the frame. If no frame damage it will be under threshold and fixed.

It’s been a few years but I hit a deer in much the same manner, took out the bumper, grille, AC condenser, hood, quarter panel, running board, rim/tire, needed a new door skin, headlight assembly and fog, couple other things… At the time was about $14k worth of repairs.

Totalled most likely not. Make sure to try and get a diminished value payout as well. Hopefully ya have gap insurance if they do find something that totals it like a cracked block.

That buck was totaled, truck depends on the frame.

    You killed Bambi’s side-piece 🙁

I hope you at least called the non emergency line or your local game and fish..
That’s sad 🙁 Oh yea, sucks for your truck too.

    Airbags?

If it’s not totaled, it’s at least $15k+ body work from a reputable body shop.

Being that it’s new and insurance is paying for it, I would take it to the most reputable, highly rated body shop you can find.

All depends on the frame. An the newer ones must not be aluminum haha

I’ve seen trucks from auction with similar damage and the frame is almost always damaged, the damage may be small but with the frame any damage whatsoever and it’s all compromised. If repairable it’s the same procedure regardless of damage.

No, it’s fixable. I doubt there is frame damage. I’d assume you got the engine off in less than a minute. But, it will be 25 days before you get it back. When i hit a deer the tow truck driver convinced me to take it to their home shop. A day later I had it hauled to a State Farm Select Service shop instead. You can have it taken wherever, but I’d recommend getting to a Service shop that is in network for your insurance.

You can also pay out of pocket for a ranch hand bumper replacement if you’d wish. I ended up getting a level kit because it really brought the nose down.

Edit: I think my rci skid plates saved the truck from getting the oil pan or having frame damage.

My 2018 just got totaled from some jackass hitting my tow hitch. Hopefully your frame isn’t effected.

My guess is it will be repaired. Even if there’s minor frame damage (which I doubt) the insurance company will tell you it’s a repair.

  11. The one with the horns you can see is definitely totaled

Even without frame damage, guaranteed it is totaled. Insurance companies are not paying out for insane labor and parts costs anymore. I’ve had way less damage written off without frame damage in the past few years.

Nah… 5k can you will be back on the road looking to hit your next meal in about a week or 2

This is why you put a giant cow catcher type bumper and brush guard on. They cost about 1500 bucks but pay for themselves with the first deer.
