Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 16,385 of its 2026 Ram 1500 pickups over tire pressure sensors that may provide incorrect readings or fail to trigger a low-pressure warning. That could leave a driver unaware that a tire needs air, increasing the risk of a crash.
The affected trucks do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 138, which covers tire pressure monitoring systems.

The Fix
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), is supposed to alert the driver when one or more tires are significantly underinflated. In the recalled trucks, a sensor may report an inaccurate tire pressure, and the system may fail to detect low pressure or illuminate the warning light as intended.
FCA US traced the affected production period to a change in the tire and wheel assembly process. That change took effect on July 1, 2025. The process was updated on March 17, 2026, marking the end of the suspect period.

Vehicles Affected
The campaign covers the following trucks:
Model
Model Year
Potentially Affected Vehicles
Production Dates
Ram 1500
2026
16,385
July 1, 2025–March 17, 2026
FCA US used supplier and vehicle production records to identify the affected trucks. The dates alone do not mean every Ram 1500 built during that stretch is included.
According to the filing, similar trucks outside the recall were built before or after the suspect period, used tire and wheel assemblies from a different supplier, or had reached what the report calls a “minimum level of maturity.”

Recall Chronology
On March 17, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into inoperative Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems in some 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles.
Between March 2026 and August 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Engineering and Supplier Quality to review the issue, understand potential failure modes, and to determine the suspect population.
On September 16, 2026, FCA US TSRC organization recognized that a vehicle build issue existed in some 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS Nos. 571.138.
On September 22, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to FMVSS No.138 exists in certain vehicles.
