Just east of downtown Dallas, Texas at historic Fair Park, the State Fair of Texas draws visitors from around the world. Founded in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has been an annual marvel for more than 135 years. The fair runs for 24 consecutive days, making it the longest running fair in the country. Of course, since it’s Texas, there’s no question it’s among the biggest.
The Chevrolet Silverado is once again the Official Vehicle of the State Fair of Texas, and the next-generation 2027 Chevy Silverado and 2027 GMC Sierra are on display alongside several other models from each brand. Big trucks, a big market, and a big Texas event. It’s all coming together right here in the heart of the Lone Star State.
“Texas is a proof market for trucks because customers expect one vehicle to work, tow, travel comfortably with family and perform when the road turns into a trail,” says Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet. “That is why the State Fair is the place to be – we want customers to see the trucks up close and judge for themselves how Silverado fits the Texas way of life.”

Light- and heavy-duty trucks right at home in Texas
Annually, more than 2 million people flock to the State Fair of Texas for Texas-themed activities, sights, and food. Fair foodies with a hankering for a chicken fried steak biscuit, a corn dog, or a beef brisket-bacon-cheese-French-toast sandwich will find what they’re looking for. Unfortunately for the health conscious, even the broccoli is deep fried.
Those walking off their calories can head toward the Texas Auto Show on the fairgrounds, just steps from the 55-foot-high Big Tex mascot. GM’s light-duty lineup gives Texans meaningful choices with new V8 power, diesel range, more factory-lifted options, and even more premium materials. Customers who tow heavier loads or rely on their truck for work can see the HD trucks with an all-new available diesel or an enhanced gas V8, electric power steering, and electronic brake boost – technologies that make capability feel more controlled and approachable.
“Our customers are looking for all the capability to tow, to haul, and to adventure, but they also want to experience the reward of premium craftsmanship and innovation on the inside,” says Global Vice President, Buick GMC Michael MacPhee. “The Sierra is based on a simple idea: capability without compromise. And we couldn’t be more excited to launch our next generation Sierra in Texas.”
In Texas, residents and visitors use trucks in many ways. Families use them to haul sports equipment or camping gear, contractors drive them from site to site, and equestrians and rodeo competitors tow horse trailers alongside an infinite number of other reasons people drive pickups. Chevy and GMC trucks are designed to meet those customers where they are with a robust selection of trim choices and options.

GM’s history and impact in Texas
The truck market in the U.S. is sizable, and Sierra is on track for its second-best calendar year ever, with Canyon recording its best quarterly sales ever. In Texas alone, the state is #1 in terms of large pickup sales in America, and hundreds of Chevrolet and GMC dealers are ready to serve up Silverado, Sierra, Colorado, Canyon and HD models.
Between the two brands, Chevrolet and GMC make a huge impact. GM contributed $4.6 billion to the Texas economy in 2025 and has more than 13,000 GM employees in the state. Chevrolet has 70 years of history at the Arlington, Texas Assembly plant where more than 1,350 vehicles are built daily. And not only is Texas the number one state for retail sales for the Sierra, Dallas is the top market in the entire country for GMC’s full-size truck.
At the State Fair, visitors can check out Chevrolet and GMC vehicles all day long at the Texas Auto Show. Chevy is also hosting a Ride & Drive on-road and off-road attraction for guests 18 and older, including the latest models from the Chevy lineup like the Silverado, Equinox EV, and the Corvette Grand Sport.
The State Fair of Texas will continue through October 18, 2026 at Fair Park (3809 Grand Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75210).
