Five 2026 Ram 1500 pickups are headed back to the dealer over a wiring connection that may not have been fully secured during assembly. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue could keep the driver or front passenger side airbag from deploying properly in a crash.
The recall is small, but it involves equipment that occupants count on for protection. FCA US estimates that all five trucks included in the campaign have the condition. Dealers will check the seat wiring connections and secure them as needed, at no cost to owners.

The trouble comes down to how the front seat wiring was connected when the trucks were assembled. FCA US says a connection between the seat wiring harness and the seat airbag, or between the seat harness and the truck’s body wiring, may not have been completely secured.
An improperly connected airbag may not inflate as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury. FCA US says the condition will turn on the airbag warning light in the instrument cluster.
NHTSA lists the trucks as failing to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 208, which covers occupant crash protection, and No. 214, which covers side-impact protection. The documents do not provide a count of accidents or injuries associated with the issue.

Vehicles Affected
The recall covers five trucks built between February 28 and May 18, 2026. FCA US used manufacturing records to identify them, so a truck’s build date alone does not tell an owner whether it needs the repair.

Those five vehicles are the recall total, not the number of Ram 1500s produced during that stretch. FCA US did not break the affected trucks down by trim, engine, or cab configuration.
Other trucks were excluded because they were built outside those dates or had properly secured connections. Checking the VIN is the way to confirm whether a particular Ram is included.

Who Supplied The Seats?
FCA US identifies Adient US LLC in Plymouth, Michigan, as the component manufacturer. The report lists front seat backs with part numbers 68272069AC and 68272075AB.
The filing places the problem at vehicle assembly, where the electrical connections may not have been properly secured. It specifically says the recall does not involve a defective part. The planned repair therefore focuses on the connections, with no blanket replacement of the seats or airbags called for.

Recall Chronology
On August 13, 2026, the FCA US LLC (“FCA US”) Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (“TSRC”) organization opened an investigation into some 2026 MY Ram 1500 vehicles which may have been built with front seats with an incomplete wire harness connection.
During August 2026, FCA US TSRC met with FCA US Mopar Custom Shops (“MCS”) and analyzed field records and customer assistance records to understand potential root cause, customer consequence and vehicle scope.
On September 02, 2026, the FCA US TSRC organization recognized a vehicle build issue existed on certain vehicles related to wiring harness connections, potentially resulting in a noncompliance with FMVSS Nos. 214 or 208.
On September 22, 2026, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, that a noncompliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Nos. 214 or 208 exists in certain vehicles.

The Fix And Notification Schedule
Dealers will inspect the seat electrical connections and secure any that need attention. Owners will not be charged for that work.
FCA US’s September 30 dealer notice said the repair was not yet available and estimated that the recall would launch in the fourth quarter of 2026. NHTSA’s October 6 acknowledgment says owner letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2026. Owners should confirm repair availability with their dealer before making the trip.
According to NHTSA, the affected VINs became searchable on its website October 6.

Check Your VIN
If you own a 2026 Ram 1500, enter its 17-digit VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls to see whether it is one of the five trucks involved. Chrysler customer service can also help at 800-853-1403; reference recall 94D when calling.
With so few trucks affected, there is no reason to assume every 2026 Ram 1500 has this problem. For the owners whose trucks are included, though, the inspection addresses a connection that could leave a side airbag unable to provide its intended protection.
