This Ford F-150 comes from the era when pickup trucks were horses, not luxury or sports cars with high ground clearance. This is exactly how this truck started out in life 49 years ago. Then restomodding happened. So here it is now, standing tall and towering over the F-150 of today and costing double the price of the Raptor.

This 1977 Ford F-150 looks like it aged like fine wine. It left workhorse days light-years behind for a life in the spotlight. It is a sixth-generation F-150 from 1977, which was a milestone year for the F-Series, which officially became the best-selling truck in the United States.

Ford offered it as a Regular Cab, SuperCab, or Crew Cab with styleside or flareside beds. The engine lineup started with the fuel-efficient 300-cubic-inch (4.9-liter) inline-six and included various V8 options, such as the 302-cubic-inch (5.0-liter), the 351-cubic-inch (5.8-liter), and the 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) units.

Output ranged from the base 101 horsepower (102 metric horsepower) all the way to 169 horsepower (171 metric horsepower) n both rear-wheel and part-time four-wheel drive, with either a four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

However, this truck has nearly nothing in common with the stock lineup. It has undergone plastic surgery that completely transformed it. With every body panel transformed and finished in showstopping blue, the old-school F-150 is by no means just show and no go.

There is a Ford 390-cubic-inch (6.4-liter) V8 FE-series engine roaring under the hood, but the listing doesn’t disclose any details about how much it makes. A C6 three-speed automatic transmission, completely overhauled, puts the power down through all four corners.

It sits on a custom suspension that positions it sky-high, towering over F-150s of nowadays, and a 4-inch suspension lift kit is to blame for its intimidating stance. Power brakes with disc brakes up front provide the stopping power. BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires make it unbeatable once it leaves the pavement behind.

The cabin has been remade from the ground up. Digital gauges replaced the analog instrument cluster, framed by a two-spoke steering wheel. The driver and passenger sit in the bench seat in black and gray leather, which is a perfect match with the door panels and the black headliner. The odometer reads 7,667 miles (12,339 kilometers), and that’s most likely since the rebuild.

Vanguard Motors lists this new arrival in their inventory for $159,900. Yes, you read that right: a six-digit price. In the meantime, Ford sells the brand-new F-150 Raptor for half that price. Sure, it’s got a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost under the hood, but deals with 450 horsepower (456 metric horsepower), which is impressie to say the least for a pickup truck.

In the meantime, the V8-powered F-150 Raptor R, coming with 720 horsepower (730 metric horsepower), is a $114,420 deal, which means you can buy one and still be left with money for a BMW X1 or a Mercedes-Benz GLC.
