Ford is recalling 223,472 F-150 pickup trucks after finding that fuel tank straps can come loose while the truck is on the road. NHTSA documents describe the campaign as covering certain 2023 through 2027 model year F-150s built starting January 4, 2023, within specific VIN ranges.
NHTSA lists the recall under campaign number 26V578000. Ford has not reported any crashes or injuries tied to the condition so far, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on September 21, 2026.
Which F-150s Are Covered
The recall applies to certain 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 F-150 trucks identified by VIN, not every truck built in those years. That total of 223,472 vehicles spans roughly three and a half years of production across trims and cab configurations.
Owners do not need to guess whether their truck qualifies. Ford will mail notification letters directly, and the same VIN lookup process used for other recent campaigns, like the F-150 transmission recall, applies here too.
