Take the 16.3-mile Gauntlet Falls West Trail all the way to the end and you’ll find the majestic Gauntlet Falls — and a popular graffiti spot on one of the walls. Pass Saddleback Mountain and Jo Mary Mountain along the way on this dirt road, where your Silverado can glide through the forest.

Moon Pass is an easy and wide route that is ideal for summer and fall. Part of the road is built on the decommissioned Milwaukee Road railroad grade, and you’ll find interesting tunnels and trestles as you travel. Start in Avery, Idaho and take a peek at the old station and historic railcar before heading down the trail.

Moderately experienced off-road drivers will find much of this trail pretty low-key. A few steep and rocky stretches are navigable in a Silverado ZR2, and the built-in skid plates help protect the underbelly from brush. Sedona is arguably one of the most beautiful towns in America, and this trail takes you past red rock formations and preserved cliff dwellings that elevate the experience.

Beginners, families, and overland travelers will enjoy scenic views of the Appalachian Mountains on this 5.8-mile trail. Unpaved mountain roads here include plenty of sweeping switchbacks and blind curves to give experienced off roaders a thrill, but it’s not so intimidating that newbies are scared away. Pro tip: visit in the drier months of summer or when the autumn leaves are in their full splendor.
