Ram Canada is bringing back a familiar nameplate for Canadian truck buyers, as the 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry officially returns north of the border. Designed as a value-driven off-road package, the BackCountry once again builds on the popular Big Horn 4Ă—4 Crew Cab, offering a balance of capability, styling, and everyday usability without pushing into Rebel-level pricing.
Originally introduced a few years ago, the BackCountry package carved out a niche for buyers who wanted more off-road hardware and a tougher look, but didn’t necessarily need the added cost or specialization of higher-end trims. For 2026, Ram is refining that formula and positioning the BackCountry squarely between the Warlock and Rebel in its growing off-road-focused lineup.

At its core, the BackCountry is a factory-built package that adds meaningful upgrades over the standard Big Horn. It includes a 1-inch (25 mm) suspension lift, along with heavy-duty shocks designed to improve ride control when the pavement ends. Underneath, the truck gets skid plates protecting key components like the front underbody, transfer case, power steering system, and fuel tank—critical for anyone planning to take their truck onto rough terrain.
Off-road functionality continues with front tow hooks, a rear electronic locking differential, and Selec-Speed off-road cruise control, which allows drivers to maintain a consistent speed while crawling over obstacles. The setup is paired with 32-inch all-terrain tires, giving the truck added grip and improved ground clearance.

Visually, the BackCountry stands apart with a distinctive blend of body-color and blacked-out elements. The truck features a body-color grille surround, contrasted by Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat lower body panels and bumpers. Inside, Ram has focused on durability and practicality. The cabin is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats with alloy-pattern mesh inserts, making it easier to handle mud, snow, and everyday wear and tear. A MOLLE panel storage system on the seatbacks adds flexibility for carrying tools or gear, while front and rear all-weather rubber floor matscome standard. Subtle BackCountry badging on the instrument panel ties the package together.

Buyers can choose between two proven powertrains. The traditional option is the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 with the eTorque mild-hybrid system, delivering 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. For those looking for something newer and more efficient, Ram also offers the twin-turbo 3.0-liter HURRICANE I6 standard-output (S/O) engine, producing 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque.
The BackCountry package is priced at $3,495 and is available on Big Horn models equipped with either the Level 1 or Level 2 Equipment Group. These packages add a range of comfort and technology features, including heated seats, a heated steering wheel, power-adjustable pedals, and available upgrades like a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, dual wireless charging pads, and a premium audio system.

In Canada, the 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry starts at $78,375 CAD (including destination) when paired with the Big Horn Level 1 Equipment Group. Orders are now open, giving Canadian buyers another solid option in Ram’s expanding off-road portfolio.
Ram also continues to back its trucks with a 10-year/160,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, offering added peace of mind for long-term ownership.
