According to the FHP investigation, a yellow school bus was traveling eastbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Road with a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup directly behind it. Troopers said the Silverado driver attempted to pass the school bus on the driver’s side in a passing zone. As the pickup moved alongside the bus, the Dodge Charger attempted to turn right and travel westbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Road. The Charger and Silverado collided, according to FHP.
The impact pushed the Silverado into the left side of the school bus, troopers said.
The driver of the Charger, a 56-year-old Crawfordville woman, suffered minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report. The driver of the Silverado, a 28-year-old Crawfordville man, and the 22-year-old Crawfordville woman driving the school bus were not injured.
FHP did not indicate how many students, if any, were on the bus at the time of the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
