Ram is reportedly working on a full-size SUV that will be dubbed “Ramcharger.” The model is set to get the SRT TRX treatment and a HEMI. The SUV should be built at Stellantis’s Warren Assembly Plant in Michigan and is scheduled to hit the market sometime in 2028.
“Whatever you have seen of the upcoming Ram Ramcharger SUV, that is not it,” says TK of TK’s Garage, the man specializing in industry leaks and insider news, especially those regarding the Stellantis products and just about always nailing it.
The upcoming body-on-frame Ram Ramcharger might just be a Jeep Wagoneer with Ram attire, but with upgrades targeting the powertrain and suspension, it will be a full-size SUV, and it is expected to get the front end of the TRX, but Ram has reportedly yet to choose a rear-end design.
TK of TK’s Garage says we should expect the taillight layout of the future Ramcharger to be similar to that of the Ram REV. The YouTuber claims the full-size SUV will have a split or lay-down tailgate to make access to the trunk easier.

With the Ramcharger SUV, Ram might want to regain the ground that it lost with the Jeep Wagoneer in the segment of performance SUVs. Plagued by recalls and technical issues, the Wagoneers have been struggling. Jeep sold roughly 5,000 Grand Wagoneers in the United States in 2025. In the meantime, the standard Wagoneers were selected by approximately 40,000 customers.
The most powerful variant with an internal combustion engine is the one carrying the 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six in High Output form, producing up to 540 horsepower. However, the most potent of the Wagoneers overall is the Wagoneer S EV. Its dual-motor powertrain puts out 600 horsepower (608 metric horsepower) and 617 pound-feet (837 Newton meters) of torque.
Plagued by recalls, the Wagoneers, be they standard models, Grands, or EVs, have failed to gain territory in their segments, and TK of TK’s Garage blames former CEO Carlos Tavares, his former cheap parts suppliers, and bad engineering.
But Carlos Tavares abruptly resigned in December 2024, and Tim Kuniskis is back in the game, first as head of Ram Trucks, then handling Stellantis’s American brands, so he is trying to fix the mistakes made before his comeback.

The Ramcharger is expected to get the HEMI for the SRT TRX variant with supercharged firepower. We should expect to see the almighty 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, pumping out about as much as it does for the Ram 1500 SRT TRX, which is 777 horsepower (788 metric horsepower). This one would be ready to take on the Cadillac Escalade-V.
As for the Ramcharger Rumble Bee variants, Ram is going to follow the same recipe with three output levels as for the Ram truck. TK says it might not exactly be a donut machine due to its heavy, boxy SUV body styling.
As for the images making the rounds on the internet for the past few days, he says that is NOT it. He is sure of one thing, though. It is going to be an instant hit because Ram has gone from rags to riches as a brand since Kuniskis’s return.
