I have used the same one for probably a decade. I wanted a sturdy pen that didn’t look ridiculous like the tactical pens. I like it. I have never tested it however.

Depends on what is that task have in mind. And what you mean by ‘abuse’
RastaFazool
Define abuse.
Its a steel body pen that is fairly lightweight compared to my rotring 600. The clip leaves a little to be desired, but that is really my only complaint.
I work as a PM in construction and usually have the Parker in my pocket. The brushed finish got a bit scratched up, but that is about the worst of it.

My EDC hot take is that they aren’t well designed because they are too slippery and don’t support writing more than a signature well. There are better, cheaper options
Alternative-Shine978
It can withstand the abuse of being in the front pocket of a backpack. Beyond that, I can’t say. But it’s the greatest pen and you should get one. And upgrade the refill when it runs dry.

Machine Era Classic. Mine looks like it’s been to war.

Abuse? Brother what kind of abuse are you putting your pens through?
RIPcompo
I always found mine dug into my middle finger after any decent time spent writing with it.
That was at high school, so was writing a lot, making sporadic notes in my old age
so I don’t forget shit might not have the same trouble.

It will absolutely withstand anything you can throw at it during an average day, for your entire life.
That being said, it screws in the middle. A similarly priced and constructed pen, the Zebra F-701, screws near the tip.
If you were having a not so average day, it’s the one I would choose given a choice. That being said, I carried the silver arrow (with silver ink) for a while, but by the time the all -metal version of the F-701 was released, I never felt I needed a pen that tough and never carried it, as the wear marks indicate.
The last pen I carried that I regularly wrote with was the Fisher x750, and that was for my job. Now, an OHTO minimo in my wallet covers such possibilities since I use a paint marker for writing on glass these days. ✌︎㋡
Love my Parker Jotters, BUT, that specific model didn’t hold up well for me over time. Dropped a couple times and had to open up the hole on the bottom so it would work again. Obv it still works, but it was kind of a pain. I found the traditional metal/plastic jotters to be more durable in the long run.
If you’re truly looking for a pen that can endure abuse, invest in something from a company like Tactile Turn.

I love these pens, cant beat them for the price. My jotter held up to plenty of abuse until I put it through the dryer and the ink exploded, didn’t feel like cleaning the thing so I threw it out.

I love my all stainless steel hotter. I’m a physician and I often have to have patients sign consents or forms at bedside. Patients are not always gentle or hygienic, and having a durable pen that I can drench in hand sanitizer after each use is a god-send. I use it as my “patient pen” that I hand over and collect from each patient whenever they are required to sign. It’s slim and smooth surface without the knurling that zebra stainless steel pens have which will rip up the pocket of your white coat over time
