Hawk Talon rusted all down the side of the blade a few days after getting it. Never seen that before. Maybe the etching agent wasn’t deactivated fully in the workshop. Hoping I can just use some oil and wipe this off when I get home, but still… never seen m390 do this before. Have you?

I have only with finishes such as this. The finish creates more “pits” for moisture to get caught in. Easy fix though, just use a pencil eraser 👌

From my limited understanding, rust like this is possible on a stainless steel depending on how the finish was created on the blade. I’m not sure how hawk does theirs but if it is a blasted finish that’s then etched and tumbled, the blasting process creates a porous surface on the blade that can allow corrosion to happen much easier than an equivalent stainless blade that was not blasted. I’ve also seen this happen with hinderers working finish and I believe that’s blasted, etched, then tumbled as well.

It’s the finish on the blade, it’s more porous and can cause this type of rust, I’ve seen Magnacut do this too.
