I found what I believe to be a leaf spring machete. It's mostly straight, but the handle is welded on pretty crooked. Any ideas on how I could remove it? There is a fair amount of tang available underneath.

Grinder
Why?
Depends on how well it’s welded, but an angle grinder would be the best thing to cut the welds and smooth down the remains. What are your plans for a new handle? I’d probably cut the end off an old axe handle and fit that to it.
