Lock stick potential cause

I’ve had this PM2 in cruwear micarta for about a year now. When I first got it the lock stick was so bad it would hurt to use, literally formed a callus on my fingertip from it. Eventually it got better but still makes a noticeable click and breaks free. I’ve noticed that on the lock face if you look at the edge it’s rough and looks almost chipped. Is that a defect causing lock stick? When I apply graphite to the lock face it helps to the point where it doesn’t really take much effort to disengage the lock but still does the click. Kinda annoying even though it probably not a safety issue.
