Dear flashlighters, has anybody successfully modificated this cheap flashlight to disable the mode choices?

I use this light almost everyday, and I would like the button only switch between off and high mode. So disable low mode and flash mode?

Thanks!

Momentary on when pressing the button would be achievable, but having the button toggle the on/off probably less so without some serious modification. Unless the microcontroller has more features on other unused pins but I would not bet on that.

  2. That would require writing a new firmware and flashing it on the microcontroller, which may or may not be locked to prevent flashing. It would be challenging without the source code for the original firmware, and probably out of reach for someone asking this question.

I suggest getting a different flashlight, perhaps one with mode memory that always turns on and off at the last mode used. The Wurkkos FC11C is a good low-cost option.

Wire the led direct to the battery and unscrew the tail cap to turn it off if the threads are anodized. ?
    But yeah, get something else.

I’ve modified a similar one with adding Convoy S21E driver. If you can’t solder these tiny SMD components, it’s easier just to buy Convoy S21E flashlight.

    So what I did:
    * tore off all the main LED control/charge electronics
    * left and connected S21E driver to red, green indication LEDs through original resistors, button, main LED

I wasn’t able to successfully solder to the charging port, the traces were too tiny for 2A Convoy driver takes. Everything else is working.
