My bag is ≈20 pounds, the majority of that weight is my laptop (and it's charger) + my notebooks. Those are non-negotiables. I lug this thing around almost everywhere. I don't mind the weight, I've gotten used to it. Still, family/friends believe it's ridiculous.

Curious to know what y'all think and what my bag says about me. 🙂

I don’t think it’s too heavy but think a lot of stuff here is unnecessary unless you’re a nomad or live in some kind of area prone to sudden natural disasters. I used to do that too, then was like “yeah, I literally never use most of these”. (IMO! You can carry whatever you like. It’s kinda cool that you’re prepared)

Good thing it’s your bag and they don’t have to carry it! Carry what you want and they can carry what they want. Just make sure to keep your back and core muscles strong so you don’t hurt yourself!
My bag is similar, I have OCD and agoraphobia and I have to pack a solution to every bad possible thing that could happen to make my brain shut up and let me go out and it makes my bag very heavy.

Quick question…do you really need two sets of safety goggles? Just spitballing how to drop some weight.

You could always drop some weight if you wanted to, by using a mini deodorant, lens wipes instead of the bottle, a flashlight that doesn’t have to double as a baton… etc.

But really, you have to carry it, not anyone else. So you do you.

Carry what you want. But maybe you could slim down or combine stuff. Also replace some items with lighter versions. But again, your bag = your bag so as long as you don’t mind carrying it

Oh you’re definitely a science student

Jansport Odyssey 39’er here. That looks light.

Are you going to Dad’s house for the weekend? jokes aside you don’t need all that everyday

This is like my bag 🤣 I must carry all my things in case I need them. I’ve tried to cut things out but I always end up putting them back in my bag.

People comment I have a lot in my bag, but I’m the one carrying so I don’t care about their opinion. They also really seem to appreciate my bag when I have bandaids and pain killers.

I am curious about the goggles tho!

It probably is very heavy but as a student you need all that.

what is that yellow balloon animal thing tho

Your bag is just above the weight I reccomend people start rucking (weighted walking) with. Could probably pair it back a bit but I’m honestly not sure where all that weight it coming from. Nothing in your bag seems particularly heavy

I never understood how some people will keep everything in their bag, while i can barely even keep my laptop

My bag is 25lbs on a light day lmao. I’m never caught without anything i might need

if you like your setup and don’t have any practicality issues or pain from carrying it, you don’t have to change anything. people have given you great advice if you want to optimize/organize later down the road though. only thing i could say is to make sure you’re using locking pin backs! i’ve had many a pin disappear before getting them, easy life savers

I used to carry all of my books in school when others used lockers (because I was too lazy to switch out books). I inadvertently became more athletic, because I was essentially doing strength training everyday xD

I even became the highest jumper and one of the fastest runners for girls in my year group.

My back would be killing me if I were you. But it’s your bag, why should anyone else care?
