That there is a dirk originating in Scotland around the 16th century, yours is likely a cheap yet still practical Pakistani version with cheap steel sometimes mild steel and nickel so it’s soft and rust prone nut with shiny bits still almost exactly like your blade has. I like it tho n would use it for chopping.

Hello Mr Diggler! That there is a boogie nights special!

It’s rusting because it’s not made from knife steel. It’s a very large and rusty paperweight. Sorry for your loss, but this is the wrong keepsake.

That’s a dirk. Traditionally worn with a kilt.

Pakistanimascus “Dirk” . Already starting to rust because it’s ” real damascus”…..

  6. >Is it valuable?

No. It’s likely made in Pakistan of poor quality metal(s).

    >Can it be cleaned?

Yes. Try some 0000 steel wool and 3-in-1 oil (or equivalent).

For long term storage, lightly coat blade with an appropriate rust-inhibiting oil, and don’t keep the knife in the leather sheath.

An absolute unit of a dirk?
