Unfortunately that does appear to be laser or acid eched rather than pattern-welded steel.
It’s cheap. Don’t use it for anything you’ll be consuming
Yeah you did fall for the cheap Damascus trap, but I did before too at a renaissance festival as well before I got way too into knives.
Nice thing is you can use this as your knife to use for anything you want with no remorse. I got an old kershaw I use for the real nasty stuff.
