Hello everyone! I know that small Cobra pliers are a designated tool, but I have seen many posts here where people are including them in their EDC pack. Usually the XS 100mm version.
They did look practical to me, but I never really saw anyone explaining or confirming where they used it. Or, which size would be the best fit. So, after a few clips on yt (and also on instinct) I decided to buy the 125mm one. The reason I made this post is because I wanted to share my experience.
So, yesterday I went to my sister's new apartment to do some handy work. One of the jobs was connecting water hose to the kitchen sink faucet. I had the designated big pliers and wrench, but decided it was the perfect opportunity to test the small Cobra. And it was actually up to the task. It was easily one hand adjustable, it felt like a wrench in my hand, and I could turn it quite comfortably, with force.
The second time I used it was while adjusting the washing machine "legs" in the bathroom. Once again, I was surprised by how one can easily use them, holding them with just fingers, to make a small adjustment. And it was better this way, because it allowed me to leave the machine unsupported and just turn the wheels while getting it leveled.
As for the reason I went for the 125 mm version of the Cobra, the guy in the video explained that it was actually more convenient for the hand vs the XS Cobra. Not just grip wise, but rather because of the force, you can hold it firmly in the palm and have some leaver. And I agree with him, if it was shorter, it would hit the middle of the palm.
I added pictures for size reference.
I hope this is helpful to someone. Have a nice day.
