Hello. I got this knife last year. I haven’t used it much as I didn’t know how to fully maintain it and it can rust. Which makes me wonder how do I prevent water getting in where tang meets the handle? Should I put some Vaseline at the base or something to prevent water getting in after washing it?

Not strictly necessary, but if you want to seal the grain end, I recommend ‘chopping board oil’.

The one I use is a blend of linseed oil and beeswax.

I like to heat it up a little that zone with a hot air gun, put the smallest blob of hot glue there, and keep heating it up so that it spreads evenly and seals the zone. It is easy to do, easy to remove for future maintenance, and works like a charm

  3. You can use few drops Ballistol or camellia oil or simple Olive oil to care about blade and handle , just a few drops regularly and you have nothing to worry about then 🤗, just do not throw these knives into the kitchen sink or dish washer. Proper Wood handles and good carbon steels do not need much maintenance, just do not treat them like modern plastic kitchen trash
