If you are in for a short burst of 230.000 lumens, this is your ticket. This is the only flashlight I have tested that can reach over 200,000 lumens at turn on. This beats the current biggest lumenmonster, the Imalent MS32, but only for the first minute. After that, all the high output competitors beat the AK24. And that includes the much less powerful Acebeam X75, and even the Imalent MS12 Mini C (now just named Imalent MS12).
The output drops like a rock in every mode, and runs below 10,000 lumens for the rest of its runtime. That’s a downside for such a big light. The output could clearly be higher, especially in the lower modes. And the fan should have been controlled by the temperature instead of by mode.. Good example is the Imalent MS18 with similar problem.
Turning on the fan didn’t help the sustained output Not in Level, nor in Level 3 nor in Level 4. The fan turns on automatically in Level 5 and Turbo, so you can’t really test it without the fan. But my results shows there is no actively useful thermal control. The fans just turn on, but it doesn’t change the sustained output.
I would have liked Haikelite to spend more time on testing, retesting and executing what could have been the highest output flashlight (according to ANSI FL1) on the lists. Well, it has one of the highest output for about 1 minute. But it could have been so much better with just a bit more time, testing and effort. According to ANSI FL1 standards, it’s performance is 2nd on the list, but worst than most competitors after it drops. It’s not good at sustaining its output.
But, by all means, if you are just looking to show off, and want the brightest flashlight at turn-on, this is it.
