I didn't have much thought as to what the end result would be for this, but the end result is one that i absolutely love. However, my boss/mentor says that the handle is too plain for a damascus blade. Personally i see the asthetic to be a less is more for this piece but what do you think?
To clarify, I made this on behalf of the forge I work at so it's not up to me to decide but i can't let this arguement go for some reason. May end up buying it for myself

I think it looks good.
Japanese knife makers have been using “plain” wooden handles for centuries, as have others.
Maybe add a bit of mineral oil(or similar) to darken the wood up a touch. Simple can be beautiful too!
Damascus patterns aren’t really plain in my book.
Typically they look best with dark wood, so maybe stain the handle?
