Hi everyone,
I’d like to ask about intentionally accelerating patina on a Fireflies flashlight in the Jade Relic Titan + Copper version.
I made an AI visualization and it really feels like this version is begging for a beautiful blue, sea-like patina. Unfortunately, I’ve never experimented with patination before, so I’d like to ask a few questions 😉
From my initial research, I already know that this effect can be achieved using ammonia fumes, salt, and optionally vinegar. My main concern is how the titanium will react during this process. Do you think I can put the whole flashlight into a container with the solution, or would it be safer to patinate only the copper head?
I’m also worried about how the electronics might react in these conditions — should I somehow protect the inside of the flashlight from the fumes?

Watch videos on people doing “ship wreck” patina, it’s all over YouTube.
Once you get the patina you want, you’ll want to clear coat it, otherwise it’ll just keep getting more patina and keep changing.
Personally, I just let my stuff get a natural patina. Whatever it does on its own is cool, and it eventually just pretty much turns super dark / black.
