I recently acquired this knife. It's a Cold Steel SR1 Lite. It retails on their website for 85 dollars and for the life of me I cannot tell WHY?! Some one fill me in on the secret! The scales feel like cheap plastic, the blade is super chunky which I guess could be an advantage? And the pocket clip is so tight I guess it would work if I was wearing pants made of the finest silk? Is there something I'm missing? I've never even heard of the brand !

Idk it should only be a $30 knife. Thatโ€™s what I got it for like 2 years ago. I dunno why itโ€™s so much right now. MSRP is always insane on cold steelโ€™s website. Go on bladehq or midway for better prices.

    It goes for roughly $45.

A better question is why would you go to their website and pay msrp?

Thereโ€™s MSRP, and then thereโ€™s street price. Nobody should be paying MSRP. On Amazon, this knife is less than $40, and for that, itโ€™s a pretty solid value. Cold steel makes knives that are generally considered pretty bulletproof, with one of the strongest locks in the industry, and good heat treats on their steel. I have been happy with the half dozen or so Cold Steel knives Iโ€™ve owned. One of my current fav cheap beater edcs is the Cold Steel Mini Recon clip point, and the Air Lite series are high on my list as well.
