A short while back I made a small keychain tool from a flat iron and found it to be an interesting pastime machining away in the workshop, so I decided to make a bigger pocket tool, this time with some paracord to give it a rudimentary tourniquet functionality.
The belt cutter is similar as on the previous tool, the difference is I am experimenting with gluing the utility blade to the tool. The first two attempts using two component epoxy glue failed, this time I’m trying casco’s rubberfix, which I’m hoping will make the joint a bit more ductile and not as brittle as the epoxy turned out to be. (The real reason I’m experimenting with glue is because it’s so bloody hard drilling blade steel). The future will show if it holds or not
I’m no paramedic so I don’t know if the tourniquet idea flies, but I imagine in such a situation anything is better than nothing. I haven’t seen any tourniquets on other rescue tools, anyone knows if there are such products?
