Has anyone used any of the new XP-L HI? How does it compare to the old version? The old version was praised for it’s tint, brightness, and throw. How does the new one compare?

I see that Simon has of the new XP-L HI in V4 (flux binning) and 3A (tint bin that is below BBL), but I have not seen an talk of them ’round these parts. Is the new version less throw-y, like the [XHP35.2 HI is reputed to be ](https://budgetlightforum.com/t/led-test-review-cree-xlamp-xhp35-2-hi-d4-e3-5000-k-min-70-cri-just-more-evolution-than-revolution/223296)?

I have them in an E07X and they’re really nice, very high output, good tint, but I don’t have anything else similar with the same optics to compare them to.

To me they are just as good if not better than the previous version. The output is good. The ones I’ve tried so far (4000K from Kaidomain and 5000K from Fireflies) have been dead on neutral or below BBL.

I have the 4000K in an FW3X and an FW1A and the 5000K in a FW1AA. All are nice. They have lower Vf than the originals as well.

I really don’t understand why we don’t see them offered other than the cost. 519A are cheaper and in higher demand so I get it but there’s like a gap in the market for nice tint throwy efficient 3535 emitters right now.

  3. I didn’t realize XP-L had a new version. I thought it was just an old version of XHP35 (or whatever size XHP LED corresponds).
