I just wanted to share my experience- I purchased this about 15 years ago at rei and don’t have the receipt. The tool was high quality and I kept it in my car for light use. Went to use it after the last cold snap and found the plier section broken- not from use but most likely from the temperature fluctuations. Never abused so I felt this was a manufacturer defect. Sog told me to blow smoke. Anyone else seen these fail like this?

Honsstly, I probably wouldn’t by any SOG tools expecting them to last at all. Good to know though. Thats bullshit they didnt warranty it.

I have heard a lot of people saying that they were denied warranty on their SOG. I bought mine 16 years ago, maybe the same I’ve you have, thinking I was protected by the warranty. I still have them but they have been moved to only light duty due to the warranty issues I’ve seen here. I’ll never buy a SOG again from what they have been doing to people with the warranty. It’s all Leatherman, Gerber, and victorinox from here out.

To be fair, most companies won’t take products for warranty without proof of purchase, which you didn’t have.
