I found some magnetic strips that have just the right grip – the bits don’t fall out if you hold it upside down and shake them, but they are not hard to remove with your fingers either.
The dimensions with bits are:

Weight 42 grams / 1.5 ounces.
I can fit both sleeves in one sleeve of my chum wallet with plenty of room to spare. The bits don’t come out, and the magnet is not strong enough to mess with my credit cards!
Each rack is very nearly half the height of the Leatherman bits holder, and significantly shorter in length.
I’m going to make another 3d printed part so that I have the option of using one of the racks as a lid for the other, creating an enclosed unit.
