A teenager was found seriously injured off a road in West Hartford on Thursday night following what police believe may have been a hit-and-run collision.
Emergency crews responded to the area of North Main Street and Proctor Drive around 9:10 p.m. on the report of an injured pedestrian and found a 17-year-old seriously injured just off of North Main Street, according to Capt. Aaron Vafiades of the West Hartford Police Department.
The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Vafiades said. His condition was not immediately clear.
Vafiades noted that “no vehicle possibly involved” was at the scene when police, firefighters and medics arrived.
The police department’s accident reconstruction team responded to investigate. The area was closed while the scene was processed.
Vafiades said the incident remains under active investigation.
“The West Hartford Police Department would like to thank the West Hartford Public Safety Dispatchers, as well as the West Hartford Fire Department and AMR for their efforts on scene,” Vafiades said in a statement.
