Not sure if this belongs here, but I’ve been working on a jacket that integrates a bunch of everyday carry functions into the actual garment.

Things like:

  • a zipper that doubles as a tool
  • built in sleep system
  • hidden storage
  • something that digitally connects you to your jacket (for ownership)
  • small utility features you’d normally carry separately

The idea is less stuff in your pockets, but still having what you need.

Curious what you guys think:

  • Is this overkill?

• • Or does integrating EDC into clothing actually make sense?

I really like this. The black out curtain and pillow is a really great idea. I’m on board with all of it except for the pit vents. I just don’t know about going around all day with a zipper in each armpit. It could work with the right style zipper and material choice, I’m just not sure about that bit.

Ima be honest man. In theory it’s cool. In practicality it’s too much. Maybe if I was going hiking or camping? Sure… but at that point I’m already carrying a lot of shit. But for everyday carry in my suburban/city life? Nah

A lot of the features people will forget about too. And it’s not like you can wear a fleece lined jacket year round so you’re “used” to it.

I used to carry a multitool. They advertise like 20+ tools in a small package. To this day I’ve prolly only used 5. Scissors, knife, screwdriver, pliers, and plastic packaging opener. But even this wasn’t being used enough so it found its way to my car and all I carry tool wise is a knife and a flashlight
