I know UV lights get talked about a lot for novelty use, but I’ve been finding them genuinely useful for practical inspectioon around the house.
I tested a ultrafire c15s 395nm light on a pad from a dog bed and the difference between normal lighting and UV was kind of wild. Under regular light it looked moreor less fine. Under UV, a lot more detail showed up immediately.
That’s what I like about 395nm specifically. It’s easy to use, gives instant visual feedback, and works well for checking fabrics, surfaces, residue, and random mystery spots you’d otherwise miss.
This particular light has a pretty concentrated beam, which is nice for targeted checking, though I wouldn’t mind a slightly broader spread for scanning larger areas faster.

Smell would be my first giveaway about there being a dirty pet pad.
The UV light would just serve as confirmation.
