I have a 3X21C LHP531 on the way and kinda want a thrower light too, It could come in handy in my work since i'm working alot on big stages and shining a light on something far away would be great for signaling for when intercom is down again, would need about 500 meters of range and would like it to be quite bright too for use when walking or being in the woods, would this light from Convoy be a good option with the SFT-90 or would another light from Convoy be better suited for me? I have no idea of this thing is overpowered or under powered for what I want it to do but it being overpowered would be no issue at all.
please if you think there is a better option for the money, feel free to enlighten me.
thanks!

Also if someone owns this lights and has some beamshots that show it’s range well, I’d love to see them!
The SFT90 is a good LED for throw, especially in the L21-series with its sized reflector. But if you’re going for these high lumens, high heat emitters, well north of 10Amp draw for them in their highest modes, you would want to go with the L21A, which has more mass and surface area to better manage heat dissipation compared to the much lighter L21B.
You can save some cash going with the SFT42R instead of the SFT90. If you just need for signalling the 42R might even be a better option. Since the 42R is limited to 10 amps you don’t have to worry so much about heat.
I have the L21B with SFT42R 5000K and it throws far. Easily over 1KM and blows away my C8+ with the same emitter.
Only my 3X21D outperforms it.
They say SFT90 is like a low-cost SBT90.2 but in practise, the latter’s lower internal resistance makes it easier to drive and you tend to see more output from the SBT90.2
Having said that, SBT90.2 is also quite expensive and the gains could be relatively modest compared to the SFT90.
Also, the L21A has more thermal mass so you don’t have to worry about it heating up as fast.
