Build quality
The light feels very solidly made. It has some heft to it, which I like. The milled lines in the body lend it great grip along with the finger groove like cutouts on the back of the swing out light panel. The selector switch has a satisfying click to it as well as the on/off button itself. The tail magnet is strong and the pocket clip is very comfortable and functional. The side light hinge feels really high quality. I was worried about having a moving part on a light. Is it a possible failure point for water proofing? Will the hinge break? Only time will tell with that but so far it feels really solid and I think will be really useful.
One thing I’ll note is that while the side light clicks into and out of place and is sturdy. While closed it has the tiniest amount of wiggle room. Which sort of causes it to click against the main body of the light.
UI/Light
The UI is very simple. The rotary switch is toggled to the desired light choice. The white light can be step or fade controlled. Turbo and moonlight available. Red can be ramped up or down and the UV mode even has two modes, a high and low if you will. The side light fades on automatically when deployed. It also automatically turns off when closed. I love that. It can be tint shifted as desired from cool white to a nice warm amber. A great touch.
The main light is nice and bright. With a dedicated hotspot and good spill. I can for sure see this as a “letting the dog out one last time” type of light. The red light is also nice and bright with easily controlled brightness which is useful. UV for me is more for fun. But it works great glowing my kids’ stars in their bedrooms at bedtime.
Where this light shines for me will be the utility of the side light panel. The brightness is perfect for a project light illuminating a work surface. The ability to tint shift this is a big bonus.
TL;DR
This light is solidly made and packed with features. A large battery and simple UI make this a really good choice. With the addition of the side panel light I can see this being a regular part of my EDC and a chore/project companion.
