I was using my Wurkkos FC11C for about 10-15 minutes on high and turbo while the battery was pretty low. Right before it died it stepped down a lot.

When I opened it up though it smelled like it was burning and it looks like the battery has this orange/brown burn mark. Is this normal or is this battery and or flashlight toast? Thanks in advance.

I should add I haven’t charged it back up yet since I’m worried it’s unsafe so I’m not sure if the light still works or not. Also I’m not sure if it was like this before but when I shake it around a little the battery seems to feel like it’s moving around inside quite a bit.

  2. That spring looks heat-colored and flat as if it has experienced a short circuit.

Neither the flashlight nor the battery are safe to use if that’s the case.

Battery is gone, light is questionable so you should contact Wurkkos about this.

I’d keep the battery in the back of your garden in a bucket of (salt) water for a couple weeks and then dispose of in electronics recycling

Looks like there was a lot of current through the spring, more than normal, which caused the spring to heat up, collapse and melt into the plastic separator disc of the battery (that’s also the reason for the brown stuff).

Could be a small defect in the spring which results in a high resistance, or actually something wrong in the driver, which caused it to pass more current than normal.
