Got a little carried away with my American Blade Works slipjoint. I know everyone loves the original look, but it felt a bit too sterile to me, so I wanted to add some color and a personal touch.

I heat anodized all the hardware. One side came out pretty nice, but the other… not so much. I made the dumb mistake of not properly cleaning/prepping it first, so the finish is a little (okay, very) off. I also acid washed the blade.

I’m still kind of torn on the overall look, but one thing’s for sure. It came decently sharp out of the box and now it’s seriously popping hairs!

What do you think, did I completely ruin it or did it somehow end up better?

  1. I did some ano work on mine as well, I like a more consistent finish, you didn’t ruin it b/c its just a surface finish .. you could blast it or do other ano work on it to get it more consistent.

Here is [mine](https://www.instagram.com/p/DNS_QK9umKv/?img_index=1) after a manganese sulfate ano. Mine shows a little variance as well in these photos- I’ve since gifted that knife to my son and I haven’t seen it in awhile.
