I’m torn between the micarta Civivi yonder and the knafs lander 2 micarta. Looking for something that can hold it’s own in most tasks that I would come across day to day such as occasional food prep, and light woods work like on a day hike.

The Yonder has a really thin blade stock. It’s a higher grind, so it will cut like a laser, but not so much great at woodworking stuff.

Both will do just fine. Just get both

I have both of them and the Yonder just doesn’t feel nearly as premium as the Lander 2. Between those two I’d 100% go with the Lander

  4. I’d lean towards the Lander 2. S35VN will outpace the Yonders 14C28N by a noticeable amount. If you have a handle on sharpening, that might be a non-issue, but still a consideration.

For me, it comes down to ergonomics. The Lander is a little longer in the handle, so more comfortable for me. If you’ve found 3″ blades to be comfortable, it might be fine. I just prefer the extra ½” handle length.

I like the overall design of the Yonder better but i would go with whichever has the snappier detent and i heard the detent on some Yonders isn’t super strong. I haven’t owned either one though so i can’t actually say.

The lander 2 is one of the best knives I own. The yonder is a fun knife that I am glad I own.
