So this Maxpedition Beefy Pocket Organizer sits in my backpack that I lug around with me around the office, and pretty much everywhere else I go. My main purpose in putting this together was to update my decade old first aid kit that was sitting in a ziplock from my backpacking days and to put together a commonly used tools pouch so I dont need to lug out my toolbox every time a friend or in-laws need something quickly fixed or taken apart.

Tool Side:

First Aid Side:

  • Israeli Bandage
  • 3 Rolls of 3” gauze
  • A roll of 3M Transpore medical tape
  • A string tourniquet that I've had forever and want to replace with a SOFTT-W when I have $30 to burn.
  • Holii Travel Pill Organizer that I am actually not entirely satisfied with. Its very large and I want to trim down on the overall dimensions. Its bigger and almost less flexible than the Israeli Bandage. Inside I have a handful of:
    • Tylenol
    • Ibuprofen
    • Anti Acids
  • A handful of bandaids and some decade old Neosporin tubes inside a ziplock.
  • Not pictured are Nitrile gloves. I used the last pair while staining a piece of furniture and need to pick up more. If you’re building a first aid kit always include a few of these.
  • Not pictured, a small tube of Styptic powder. Great for small cuts and a dog paws!
  • Not pictured, Benadryl, dogs are stupid.

If I can find a smaller pill container then Ill be able to fit the triangle bandages that are in the cars first aid kit. Aka a gallon zip lock bag under the passenger seat with other emergency supplies.

Things I wanted to include but couldn’t fit or decided against:

  • Bellohowel TacLight 60x I dont remember buying but apparently own and couldnt fit. I am open to small penlight suggestions.
  • Additional tape options, e.g gorilla, and duct tape. They go in the car zip lock at the very least.
  • Dedicated flush cutters, I thought about a Knipex or similar but settled on the Leathermen for filling that role since space started to get tight.
  • Trauma Shears. I used to have my EMT license. So I heavily debated about bringing these but the only place I could fit them would be on the outside and that subtracts from the “slim” easy transportation goal of the bag. I am curious to hear about anyone carries them and what your solution was? Perhaps I will stuff them the car kit? I need to build out a backpack for that rather than a gallon ziplock.
  • Iodine. It stains EVERYTHING and will eventually leak. It used to be a must have.
  • Hex set.

In terms of actual usefulness Ive used almost everything in this kit over the last month since I put it together. Only having not used the larger first aid items, bandages, and gauze.
