I love my Emisar DA1 SFT70 3000k. It carries perfectly and has a beautiful beam and tint. But there is a hole, a desire for higher sustianed output (and preferably higher max output too). And more throw. I would love a FFL E04 with 3k SFT40s, but I am sadly limited to Convoy budget. I do not want to spend more than $50 USD on this light, not including acessories and batteries, which i will need to kick off getting into 21700's. I dont have a single one.
My first alternatives are the M21- H and K. My issue with the M21K is carrying. I already dont like carrying my C8+, and it feels like a burden holding it in my hand going around. Cargo pants are rare for me and uncomfy with a light this size. Holsters and pouches i dont like very much. The M21H (sft70 3000k) seems perfect. I could easily clip it in a back pocket. But i am scared that, being not much larger than the DA1, i wont have enough of an output gain or throw gain to justify it.
in other words, carry-able, pocket clip, 21700, TIR, (preffereably) high CRI, 4000K-3000K, ~2000lm+ turbo, ~1000lm+ sustained, ~35KCD+. Is this realistic for a light that is carry-"able"? If the Surge could do it (in my mind), what else can?
seems like the M21K is the way for me after looking at bean comparator and sustained lumens. any ideas to carry it? get a pouch or something?

Hmmm my m21e can sustain around 1500lm with the 4000k xhp70.3 r70. I assume that m21k is similar in the size and it’s thermal mass might sustain over 1000lm with it’s lhp73b, but i never tried it irl
I have the d1 sft70 3k and it has much better output or more candela maybe because of reflector but same size as da1 and the same beautiful tint comes in around $50-60
M21K is not really floody, M21H is – with LHP73B. M21H with SFT-70 3000K is fairly throwy but not bright – SFT-70 3000K is pretty inefficient and it produces just 1700 emitter lumens at 30W (6V5A) so maybe 1400lm out of the front. High CRI emitters are like 30-35% less efficient than low CRI. M21H with LHP73B – about 5000-6000 out of the front on turbo (maybe slightly less at 3000K). Sustained output is limited by thermal mass, M21K sustains about 2000lm, smaller M21H should hoover around 1500lm.

All three driveway scenes have M21K LHP73B, M21H LHP73B and E04 Surge with FFL505HB. Sadly no DA1.
My compromise – M21H but ask Convoy to swap SFT-70 with XHP50.3 R70 4000K. Simon does such orders if parts fit. XHP50.3 should produce about 3400 emitter lumens on turbo, it’s a little bit bigger than SFT-70 but smaller than LHP73B. LHP531 or XHP70.3 so it should still provide some decent throw and when it comes to tint Convoy carries 5D tint which is pretty warm (3750-4000K) and should be around or below BBL which meant neutral or even slightly rosy.
I have M21H with SFT70 3000K. No measuring equipment, but to my eye it looks nowhere near 1000 sustained lumens. 1lumen got about 900 sustained lumens with 70.3 r9050 5000k, while Zeroair – about 600 lumens with 70.3 r9050 4000k.
