Wondering if there is a better option for these little rings. From key fobs to flash lights etc.
I find them very flimsy. Had an olight on my camper lanyard I wear around my neck when we camp. Pulled right off and I didn’t even notice it. Fortunately found it a few weeks later stuck in my bike rack…still had the ring attached but it was unwound.

I used thin zip ties which worked for about 5 months before they broke, so don’t use those. The thicker zip ties I use have not broken yet but I guess that can be risky as far as losing keys.
I also use the small nitize locking double carabineers which work great
If it fits, try a flat key ring. Ive been trying to make the switch over to them, I feel like they are far sturdier.
I used a split washer bent inward when I made my key organizer, it has held up fine so far (6 months).
Fishing/marine stainless steel split rings may be more robust for your needs.

Real split rings are better than the cheap ones that come with most items. But I would say you might have been lucky that it failed the way it did. If you wear anything around your neck, you need a known weak point to prevent damage to your neck and body. So whatever you choose, make sure you aren’t exposing yourself to greater risk of injury. People die because of loose clothing, neck ties, scarves, etc. it’s 100% avoidable.
Go to a fishing shop and get some split rings, you can get them with different weight strength. And they’re small like the one you have on your light.
Yeah, there’s various strengths. Lots of them are super cheap and flimsy, but others would take proper muscle to break open.
I recommend going by an actual locksmith shop and talking to them, they should know which rings are stronger than others. Plus they usually have like 30 different sizes, and that’s nice.
You can also get permanent ones, steel cable and a crimp. Slide it on and hammer the crimp or use the crimper tool.

I ran into the same issue. I hang mine from my belt loop. I had this clip and modified it to fit through the hole in the olight usb charger. I also had to make the hole slightly larger. I don’t remember where I got the clip.
EDIT: now that I’m looking closer, I think this clip might be the one that came with the imini 2 light, just modified.
I use magnet keychains, specifically magconnect. Here it is holding my knife to my backpack when outdoors.

Perhaps a little chain. Not sure where to get one on its own.
